Nicholas A. Bowman听is the director of the Center for Research on Undergraduate Education and an associate professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies at the University of Iowa. He uses a social psychological lens to examine college experiences and outcomes; his research has been cited over 2,000 times.听

Taylor Branch听is an American author and public speaker. In the October 2011 issue of听The Atlantic, Branch published an influential cover story entitled 鈥淭he Shame of College Sports,鈥� which author and NPR commentator Frank Deford said, 鈥渕ay well be the most important article ever written about college sports.鈥� An expanded version was published as听The Cartel: Inside the Rise and Imminent Fall of the NCAA听(2011). Branch is known for his landmark narrative history of the civil rights era,听America in the King Years. The trilogy鈥檚 first book won the Pulitzer Prize and numerous other awards. Branch returned to civil rights history in his latest book,听The King Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement听(2013). Branch was awarded the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 and the National Humanities Medal in 1999.

Matthew Carnes, SJ, is an associate professor in the Department of Government and the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and he currently serves as the director of Georgetown鈥檚 Center for Latin American Studies. His research examines the political dynamics of labor and social welfare policy in Latin America. In 2015-2016, he served as a member of the Georgetown University Working Group on Slavery, Memory, and Reconciliation.

Ronald 听G. Ehrenberg听is the Irving M. Ives Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Economics, a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow, and Director of the Cornell Higher Education Research University at Cornell University. After completing her Ph.D. in Romance Languages and literatures at Harvard, she served in various faculty and administrative roles at the University of Southern California, Princeton University, and Spelman College before becoming president of Smith College, the largest women鈥檚 college in the United States. 听At Smith, she launched a number of important academic initiatives, including an engineering program, the first at an American women鈥檚 college. 听Simmons is the recipient of many honors, including a Fulbright Fellowship to France, the 2001 President鈥檚 Award from the United Negro College Fund, the 2002 Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Medal, the 2004 Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Medal, the Foreign Policy Association Medal, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and the Centennial Medal from Harvard University. 听Simmons is a member of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves on the boards of Texas Instruments, Chrysler, Mondelez 听and Square, as well as a number of non-profit boards. 听Awarded numerous honorary degrees, she received the Brown Faculty鈥檚 highest honor: the Susan Colver Rosenberger Medal in 2011. 听In 2012, she was named a 鈥榗hevalier鈥� of the French Legion of Honor.

She is a national leader of diversity education and critical approaches to dialogue across differences in higher education.
