How to Pray the Rosary

Prayers of the Rosary

After the Apostles' Creed, and "at the beginning of each decade [set of ten smaller beads], announce the "mystery" to be contemplated, for example, the first joyful mystery is "The Annunciation". After a short pause for reflection, recite the "Our Father", ten "Hail Marys" and the "Glory be to the Father". An invocation [additional prayers] may be added after each decade. At the end of the Rosary, the Loreto Litany or some other Marian prayer is recited. —Vپ,

The Mysteries of the Rosary

"The Rosary is made up of twenty "mysteries" (significant events or moments in the life of Jesus and Mary)"—Vپ,
"There are four sets of Mysteries: Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and—added by Saint John Paul II in 2002—theLuminous...The repetition in the Rosary is meant to lead one into restful and contemplative prayer related to each Mystery. The gentle repetition of the words helps us to enter into the silence of our hearts, where Christ's spirit dwells." ,
