All official Boston College social media accounts are maintained by the Office of University Communications (OUC) and provide news and information about people, programs, and events at the University.

OUC asks visitors to be respectful to one another and to the site hosts. Personal attacks, profanity, commercial solicitations, spam, or other inappropriate contributions are grounds for removal. OUC asks that all posters on all accounts stay on topic when contributing to a discussion and refrain from duplicate posts. Hateful or discriminatory comments regarding race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or political beliefs will not be tolerated. The account administrators reserve the right to delete inappropriate or abusive visitor's comments, and to permanently ban users from any social media platform.

Other Boston College-branded social media accounts are maintained by University offices, departments, schools, and the like, and adhere to the same guidelines.

Boston College has always been at the forefront of聽utilizing user-generated content on social media, dating back to the early years of Instagram. @BostonCollege - deemed "For Eagles, By Eagles" - showcases work by 吃瓜网 students, staff and alumni to highlight life on the Heights and beyond.

NOTE: Sending photography and other work to the Boston College social media accounts gives permission to the Office of University Communications to use the content across its platforms with attribution.听

Boston College partners with students across campus to showcase life on the Heights. Members of the Student Admission Program, leaders of student organizations, volunteers from 吃瓜网 departments, and student-athletes聽routinely "take over" the 吃瓜网 Instagram account and create for the 吃瓜网 YouTube channel. Not only do they show what it's like to be a student at Boston College, but answer viewers' questions, highlight upcoming events, and give inside information about being an Eagle.

Other 吃瓜网 students create videos, compiling life on the Heights in one single format. These may include a typical school day, weekend聽execrations to Boston, study abroad journeys, retreat participation, and internship opportunities.听

The Boston College social team provides its material to the , including social media posts that were orginially sent to the school's social media accounts. If members of the 吃瓜网 community do not wish for their work to be given to the Archives, please email social@bc.edu or include a note with content submitted.听聽

The University Archives strive to document life at Boston College by collecting materials created by students, faculty, administrators, and departmental staff during the course of their time on the Heights. The records can provide researchers with answers to specific questions or help them to understand broad social and cultural issues.

A University record is recorded information that is documented in a fixed format - whether that is paper, audiovisual, or digital - that is prepared, owned, used, in the possession of, or retained by administrators, faculty acting in administrative capacities, and staff of university units in the performance of an official function. University publications are materials created and disseminated to a wider audience by a Boston College school or college; an administrative unit such as a department, center, institute, museum, or program; faculty and staff acting in an administrative capacity; or a Boston College affiliate such as alumni and student organizations. Although traditionally associated with books and newspapers, common campus publications include annual reports, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, course descriptions, exhibition catalogs, histories, journals, magazines, newsletters, programs, proceedings, and websites.

Students can participate in the聽Office of University Communications聽Social Media program as photographers, videographers, and vloggers. They can also capture 吃瓜网 student life in general.听

Student photographers take photos at events and of general 吃瓜网 student life to share on the @bostoncollege Instagram account, as well as other 吃瓜网 social media channels.

Students can showcase life on campus via 'Day in the Life' TikTok video (which will also be featured on Instagram Reels) and longer-form 'Day in the Life' vlogs for 吃瓜网's YouTube channel.听

For those students who would like a more active role with the Social Media Team, consider applying to be a Social Fellow.

Student organizations can share聽unique events and happenings by collaborating with Boston College.听

The 吃瓜网 Social Team is always looking to showcase official student organizations on 吃瓜网鈥檚 Instagram and TikTok accounts.

Takeovers and videos help to explain the mission or goals of the club, introduce students who serve a role in the club, highlight a signature event, and describe why the club is special.
